Last reviewed: October 23, 2026. Prices and rules come from Kroger’s Boost Membership FAQs and Boost page.
Kroger Boost is a paid add-on to the free Kroger Rewards program. It comes in two tiers: Boost at $99 a year or $12.99 a month, and Boost Essential at $69 a year or $8.99 a month, plus tax.
Both tiers give you free delivery on orders of $35 or more and 2X Points on most groceries. Annual members also get a Disney+, Hulu or ESPN+ (with ads) benefit.
Whether it pays off depends mostly on how often you use delivery. This guide covers what each tier includes, what’s excluded, and the math for deciding.
How much does Kroger Boost cost?
Kroger’s Boost FAQ lists two plans, each with an annual and a monthly price.

| Plan | Annual | Monthly | Free delivery | Streaming (annual plans only) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boost | $99 | $12.99 | In as little as 2 hours, on orders of $35+ | Ongoing Disney+, Hulu or ESPN+ (with ads) |
| Boost Essential | $69 | $8.99 | Next-day delivery, on orders of $35+ | One-time six-month trial |
Paying monthly costs more over a year. Boost monthly works out to $155.88 a year, about $57 more than the annual plan. Boost Essential monthly comes to $107.88, about $39 more.
Taxes are added on top, according to Kroger. Shoppers who receive government assistance can verify their eligibility for 50% off an annual or monthly membership.
What do you get with Kroger Boost?
Boost adds benefits on top of the regular Rewards program. Kroger says you keep everything you already get, including member prices and point eligibility.
Free delivery on orders of $35 or more
This is the main perk. Boost members get free delivery “in as little as 2 hours” on orders of $35 or more. Boost Essential members get free next-day delivery on the same order minimum.
Boost members can also pick an express delivery slot for $4.95. Kroger says that while you shop online, you’ll see which time slots qualify for free delivery.
Pickup is a different story. Kroger says “all Loyalty program members enjoy free pickup on orders of $35 or more,” so you don’t need Boost for free pickup.
2X Points
Boost doubles the base rate on qualifying purchases. Kroger’s page describes it as “$1 in spending = 1 Point + 1 bonus Point” on purchases in store, at curbside pickup and through delivery.
Kroger lists what earns the double points: the grocery department, produce, meat and seafood, deli and bakery, food destinations like Starbucks and sushi counters, over-the-counter drugs and general merchandise.
Points are worth $1 off groceries per 100, or 10¢ off per gallon per 100 at the pump. Our Kroger Points guide explains redemption and expiration.
Streaming with ads
Annual Boost members get Disney+, Hulu or ESPN+ (all with ads) for as long as they stay eligible members and the offer lasts. You pick one service.
Annual Boost Essential members get a one-time six-month trial of one of the three. After that, Kroger says the plan auto-renews at the service’s regular monthly price unless you cancel.
Kroger’s FAQ says the streaming benefit isn’t available to free-trial or monthly Boost members. You also need to be a new or returning subscriber to the service you choose.
Welcome offers and member deals
Kroger mentions “exclusive access to over $100 in savings on our Specialty Brands when you join.” Paid members receive an email within 24 to 48 hours of activation explaining how to redeem welcome offers.
The Boost page also lists member-only grocery savings and limited-time deals. Some Kroger Delivery time slots may come with extra discounts for Boost members, where Kroger Delivery is available.
What doesn’t Boost cover?
The exclusions matter, because they can change whether Boost pays off for you.

Kroger lists these as excluded from double points and the free delivery benefit:
- Pharmacy prescriptions
- Adult beverages and tobacco products
- Gift cards
- Money services
- Lottery tickets
- Postage stamps
- Delivery tips
- The Boost membership fee itself
The Boost page adds Fred Meyer jewelry, Kroger Family of Stores gift cards, The Little Clinic, and alcohol and dairy “where restricted.”
Where Boost doesn’t work

Boost benefits aren’t available at Ruler or Harris Teeter locations, according to Kroger’s FAQ. If one of these is your main store, Boost won’t help there.
The FAQ also says Boost “does not work on purchases made on Fuel or Pharmacy Prescriptions.” That means no double points on gas. It also excludes Fred Meyer Jewelers, The Little Clinic, homechef.com and Murray’s Cheese.
Is Kroger Boost worth it?
Boost pays for itself through two things: delivery fees you avoid, and the extra points you earn. The streaming perk is a bonus if you’d pay for that service anyway.
Step 1: Value the extra points
The second point per dollar is worth about 1% of your qualifying spending when used on groceries. It’s worth a bit more at the pump if you fill up more than 10 gallons at a time.
| Weekly qualifying spend | Extra points per year | Value on groceries | Value on 13-gallon fill-ups |
|---|---|---|---|
| $50 | 2,600 | $26 | About $34 |
| $91 | 4,732 | About $47 | About $61 |
| $150 | 7,800 | $78 | About $101 |
| $200 | 10,400 | $104 | About $135 |
The $91 row matches the weekly spend Kroger uses in its own savings example, along with 13 gallons per fill-up. The fuel column assumes every 100 points gives 10¢ off 13 gallons, or $1.30.
These figures only count qualifying purchases. Alcohol, tobacco, prescriptions and gift cards don’t earn the Boost bonus, so leave them out of your weekly total.
Step 2: Add the delivery savings
Kroger doesn’t publish one national delivery fee for non-members, since fees depend on the store and time slot. Check the fee shown at checkout on your next delivery order.
Then multiply by the deliveries you’d place in a year. Even a few dollars per order adds up fast if you order every week.
Step 3: Compare with the price
Add the points value to your delivery savings, and compare the total with $99 for Boost or $69 for Boost Essential.
Here’s a quick example. A household spending $91 a week on qualifying items earns about $47 of extra grocery value. Boost Essential at $69 would need roughly $22 a year in delivery fees saved to break even.
Who usually comes out ahead
- Households that order Delivery most weeks
- Big weekly grocery spenders, especially at $150 or more
- People who’d pay for Disney+, Hulu or ESPN+ anyway and choose an annual plan
- Verified government assistance recipients, at 50% off
Who probably doesn’t
- Shoppers who always use Pickup, which is already free on $35+ orders
- Light spenders who shop in store once in a while
- Anyone whose main store is a Ruler or Harris Teeter
- People who mainly want points on gas or prescriptions, which Boost excludes
Boost or Boost Essential: which tier fits?
The two tiers differ in delivery speed and the streaming perk. Points and the $35 delivery minimum are the same.
| If you… | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Plan meals ahead and are fine with next-day delivery | Boost Essential ($69/year) |
| Often need groceries the same day | Boost ($99/year) |
| Want an ongoing Disney+, Hulu or ESPN+ (with ads) plan | Boost, annual |
| Mostly want the 2X Points | Boost Essential, since points are the same on both |
| Aren’t sure you’ll stick with it | A monthly plan first, or a free trial |
The $30 annual gap between tiers matters most for streaming. If you’d pay for one of those services anyway, Boost’s ongoing streaming benefit can cover that difference on its own.
Monthly or annual?
Monthly plans cost more over a year but let you stop when you want. They also miss out on the streaming benefit, which Kroger reserves for annual members.
One approach is to try a month or two, count how many deliveries you actually place, then switch to annual if the numbers work. Kroger lets monthly members upgrade to annual in Membership Management.
Other ways to get Boost for less
Kroger lists a few options that lower the cost.
- Verified Savings: Verified government assistance recipients can get 50% off an annual or monthly Boost or Boost Essential plan. Kroger says government assistance can’t be used to pay for the membership itself.
- Boost gift cards: Kroger sells Boost gift cards online. You redeem one at Kroger.com/RedeemBoost, and a $99 card used on Boost Essential leaves $30 to spend at Kroger family stores.
- Free trials: Kroger’s trial and promotional offers let you test free delivery and 2X Points before paying.
Kroger says a verified government assistance discount can’t be combined with the 30-day free trial or other Boost enrollment offers.
How do you sign up for Kroger Boost?
You need to be 18 or older and already have a Kroger loyalty account with a registered digital account. Kroger lists two requirements for enrolling:
- Your Kroger Family of Stores loyalty card registered online
- A valid debit or credit card
Don’t have a digital account yet? Our Kroger Rewards sign-up guide walks through it, including setting up an Alt ID.
Kroger says the 2X Points and free delivery benefits are active within one hour of your purchase. You’ll get a confirmation email at the address on your digital account.
Free trials
Kroger’s FAQ describes a 30-day free trial with free delivery, 2x Points and Boost exclusive coupons. Streaming isn’t included during the trial.
Read the trial terms carefully. Kroger says that at the end of a 30-day trial, the plan you chose at sign-up becomes your paid membership and renews automatically.
In October 2026, Kroger’s Boost page was also promoting a separate three-month free offer with no credit card required. Its terms say that offer ends on its own and doesn’t renew. Promotions like this change, so check which one you’re signing up for.
How do you cancel Kroger Boost?
You can cancel at any time in Membership Management on Kroger.com. Kroger is clear that “there are no refunds for Boost fees paid.”
After cancelling, you keep your Boost benefits until the membership expires. You can also cancel only the auto-renewal, which stops the next charge without ending your current term.
Boost renews automatically when your term ends. If you change your mind later, Kroger says you can use the Resume Membership button to turn it back on.
Changing plans
Boost Essential members can upgrade to Boost, and monthly members can switch to annual, through Membership Management.
When you upgrade mid-term, Kroger converts your remaining days at a rate of 1 Boost Essential day to 0.6 Boost days. You’re charged $99 for a new year of Boost, added on top of the converted time.
Kroger also lets you extend a Boost membership for up to three years ahead of time.
Who in your household can use Boost?
Kroger says Boost can be used by people “in your immediate household” who use your loyalty card or Alt ID. Household members are defined as people living at the same address.
Everyone needs to give the same card or Alt ID at checkout for purchases to count toward the shared benefits.
Boost delivery and tipping
Your order may be delivered by Kroger Delivery or a third-party partner like Instacart, depending on the time slot.
Kroger asks that you don’t tip Kroger Delivery drivers. Third-party drivers can accept tips, and Kroger says 100% of a tip goes to them. Boost doesn’t cover tips either way.
Getting help with Boost
Boost has its own support number: 1-833-557-4278 (1-833-5KRGBST). You can also use Kroger’s Help Center or Membership Management.
For questions about your regular account or points, the main line is 1-800-576-4377. Our Kroger customer service guide lists both numbers and the hours.
